SPECIAL EFFECTS EDITOR
The editor is responsible for assembling all the shots and sequences of the film, in order to achieve continuity corresponding to the director’s vision. It is an extremely complex and essential work, which has two parts:.
The first is technical. The fitter must overcome a number of potential problems, such as false connections for example. He must smooth everything out in order to give an overall coherence to the work, manage part of the post-production as well as the work with the sound editors (responsible for similar work but only with the sound material collected during filming).
VFX SPECIAL EFFECTS SUPERVISOR
The VFX special effects supervisor is the referent for the various parties involved in the visual effects of a film. He intervenes before filming and supervises a team of technicians (cinematographer, director of photography, sound engineer, etc.) and actors by taking stock of the special effects that will be necessary to put in place. He thinks about scenes that require specific visual work (special effects, computer-generated imagery, motion capture, etc.). The creation of special effects will then be done in post-production (explosion simulation, heroes in the air, etc.).
FACADE SOUND ENGINEER
An essential profession during a concert or performance, he manages its broadcast in the room for the public. It ensures that all spectators benefit from the best possible sound.
TRAY ASSISTANT
Essential during a concert or performance, it must place the microphones on all the instruments in order to ensure comfort for the artistic expression of the musicians by hiding everything that is technical (no cables lying around, etc.) .
SOUND ENGINEER
Essential during a concert or performance, its role is to manage the level of feedback on stage for the best possible hearing comfort for the musicians.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR/PRODUCER/ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
He is a person who is at the center of the entire musical project, with technical, artistic, commercial and relational knowledge. He will find an artist and supervise him from the idea of a song to the creation of a marketable product.
SOUND RECORDING ENGINEER
He must manage the entire session in the recording studio, and therefore has technical knowledge but also and above all artistic knowledge. He chooses the microphones, as well as their placement, and validates or not the takes according to the quality of the sound obtained according to the accuracy of the instruments, respect for the rhythm, etc.
MASTERING SOUND ENGINEER
Its role is to give a certain color to the pieces, and make them homogeneous in level whatever the listening medium – HIFI speaker, headphones, earphones, computer speakers, mobile phones, etc.
SOUND DESIGNER
He works with the director to create sounds that don’t exist in nature (for example the cry of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park). This must be capable of synthesizing a sound while integrating the artistic constraints and the intentions of the director. He can create these sounds from scratch using analog or digital synthesizers or by combining already existing sounds.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR/PRODUCER/ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
He is a person who is at the center of the entire musical project, with technical, artistic, commercial and relational knowledge.
SOUND MIXING ENGINEER
The post-production sound engineer is responsible for recovering the sound elements recorded for a project (sound effects, voices, music, etc.) for mixing.
BROADCAST SOUND ENGINEER
It provides sound for live (or recorded) broadcasts and concerts or shows.
INGENIEUR DIFFUSION RADIO
L’ingénieur du son diffusion radio s’assure du bon déroulement de la diffusion des magazines, des journaux et des shows case en radio (lorsque les artistes viennent jouer dans les studios de radio pour faire une promotion).
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
He is the person mandated by the production company to take charge of the production of the film, without necessarily owning the exploitation rights to said film. It therefore supervises the entire production of the work, within the limits of the budget established by the production. He hires the team himself, including the filmmaker, who very often reports directly to him. He draws up contracts, signs them and most of the time verifies their proper execution.
PRODUCTION/PRODUCER
His work consists above all of finding new projects (original screenplays, adaptations of novels, plays, series, remakes, etc.) and setting up the financing as well as the infrastructure. In the traditional scheme, it is he who sets up the first costs, hires the screenwriter to deliver the first versions, then hires the director if he is not at the origin of the project. He helps him develop his film, from writing to distribution, and finds the funds to bring it to fruition. He oversees the entire business, from first drafts to release, and is often the holder of the operating rights.
